Y Combinator has promoted Diana Hu to Managing Partner one of the most prolific partners in the accelerator’s history. The announcement marks a significant moment for the storied Silicon Valley institution, elevating a founder-turned-investor whose rare blend of startup grit and global-scale execution sets her apart in the world of early-stage venture.
Hu first came through YC as a founder, co-founding Escher Reality (S17), an augmented reality backend that was acquired by Niantic in 2018. At Niantic, she ran the AR Platform team and shipped AR technology to the 100 million-plus people playing Pokémon GO. That operational credibility building from zero and then scaling to a global audience is precisely what makes her appointment as Diana Hu Y Combinator Managing Partner a natural fit.
From Founder to One of YC’s Most Active Partners
Hu returned to YC in 2021 as a Visiting Group Partner before joining full-time as a Group Partner in 2022. Over four years, she worked with nearly 230 companies across 18 batches, logged more than 2,100 office hours, and those companies are now worth a combined $7 billion.
