Accenture Acquires IndX to Boost Siemens Software Capabilities
Accenture acquires IndX in a fresh move to deepen its software and automation game. The company announced on June 17, 2026, that it has agreed to acquire Industries eXcellence Group (IndX). IndX is a division of Engineering Group. It’s also a long-standing partner of Siemens Digital Industries.
So, what does this mean? Accenture wants to help manufacturers modernize faster. Therefore, the acquisition will boost product development, production, and supply chain operations. It does this through software, data, and AI-enabled technologies.
According to Tracey Countryman, Accenture’s global supply chain and engineering lead, manufacturers are investing heavily in smart technology. However, many companies still struggle to connect these tools across factories and supply chains. As a result, Accenture plans to combine IndX’s Siemens expertise with its own AI capabilities. This way, clients get faster, smarter solutions.
IndX runs out of Rome and Chicago. Notably, the firm specializes in digital thread solutions. These solutions link engineering, manufacturing, and automation across both IT and operational technology. Plus, IndX covers everything from product lifecycle management to industrial edge computing and cloud systems.
Furthermore, IndX serves major industries. These include aerospace, automotive, energy, life sciences, and utilities. The company also employs more than 650 professionals. They’re based across Italy, the US, India, Germany, and Mexico.
Once the deal closes, IndX will join the Accenture Siemens Business Group. This group launched last year to merge industrial technology with AI-enabled engineering. Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software, called the acquisition a milestone. He noted it brings proven skills in digital manufacturing and simulation.
Meanwhile, Vivek Kaushik, who leads the Accenture Siemens Business Group, shared similar excitement. He explained that the partnership will shorten engineering time and boost efficiency for clients.
Looking ahead, Accenture plans to launch two new Centers of Excellence. These will sit in Italy and India, focusing on Siemens DI solutions. Teodoro Lio, Accenture Italy’s Market Unit Lead, praised Italy’s manufacturing talent. He believes this move will sharpen the country’s competitive edge globally.
Finally, Accenture will fold IndX’s other technology assets into its existing business units. The terms of the deal remain undisclosed. Still, the acquisition awaits standard closing conditions before it’s final.
