Anthropic Opens Seoul Office and Deepens Korean AI Partnerships

Anthropic has officially opened its Anthropic Seoul office, marking a significant step in the company’s push into the Asia-Pacific market. Alongside the launch, Anthropic announced a sweeping wave of new partnerships with Korean enterprises, startups, and academic institutions, signaling deep and growing confidence in the country’s AI ambitions.
KiYoung Choi, who leads the new office as Representative Director of Anthropic Korea, framed the expansion as more than a business move. “Korean organizations are building with Claude to bring the benefits of AI to millions around the world,” he said. “Opening an office in Seoul gives a long-term home to our work alongside the people shaping Korean leadership in AI.”
Among the biggest announcements is NAVER, one of Asia’s most recognized cloud and AI companies, which has deployed Claude Code across its entire engineering organization. Thousands of NAVER engineers are now using the tool to boost coding productivity. Game giant Nexon is also using Claude Code to write, review, and ship code for live-service games with global audiences.
Korea’s largest conglomerates are joining in too. LG CNS is rolling out Claude to thousands of employees for software development and client solutions, with plans to extend access across LG Group. Hanwha Solutions is bringing Claude to global staff via AWS Bedrock, meeting strict data-residency requirements. Samsung SDS is deploying Claude across Samsung Electronics, with teams using both Claude Cowork and Claude Code for knowledge work, agentic workflows, and engineering at scale.
On the startup side, Channel Corp is using Claude to power Channel Talk, a customer AI platform serving over 230,000 businesses across Korea, Japan, and the United States.
Beyond the private sector, the Anthropic Seoul office will support academic research through a new partnership with the National AI Research Lab (NAIRL), a consortium spanning KAIST, Korea University, Yonsei University, and POSTECH. Anthropic will provide Claude access to up to 60 affiliated researchers working on AI safety, alignment, and frontier model evaluation. Good Neighbors Korea, a child rights NGO, is also deploying Claude to help social workers cut administrative workload and focus more on vulnerable communities.
The developer community is a key part of the story as well. Korea ranks among the top dozen countries globally for Claude.ai use, according to Anthropic’s Economic Index, with activity concentrated in technical and creative work. Claude for Startups is now live in Korea, and the company co-hosted a Claude Build Day with BASS Ventures this week, drawing over 100 Korean founders and developers. A Push to Prod hackathon co-hosted with Replit, Korea Investment Partners, and Korea Investment Accelerator is also on the calendar.
The Anthropic Seoul office is now open and actively hiring. More information is available on the company’s careers page.
