Vercel has added Seedream 5.0 Pro on Vercel AI Gateway, bringing ByteDance’s advanced image generation model directly to developers, at list price, with zero markups.
Seedream 5.0 Pro is an image generation and editing model from ByteDance. It does more than produce visuals. Specifically, it renders text in images without spelling errors, follows typographic rules, and builds dense infographics, complete with charts, timelines, and structured layouts alongside realistic imagery.
That last capability is notably rare. Most image models struggle with readable in-image text. Seedream 5.0 Pro handles it cleanly, making it a strong fit for developers building marketing tools, data visualisation features, or content automation pipelines.
To access it, developers simply set the model to bytedance/seedream-5.0-pro within the Vercel AI SDK. From there, the model is ready to handle any image generation prompt. Vercel shared a sample prompt generating an 8-bit diagram of 2026 FIFA World Cup stadium locations, a clean demonstration of the model’s layout and text-rendering strengths.
Beyond Seedream 5.0 Pro, Vercel AI Gateway itself continues to expand as a unified API layer for developers. It handles model calls, usage tracking, cost monitoring, retries, failover, and performance optimisation, all in one place. Additionally, it includes built-in custom reporting, Zero Data Retention support, API key budgets, and routing rules.
Crucially, Vercel prices AI Gateway at provider list rates. There are no markups, and no platform fee applies, even on Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) requests.
