NVIDIA and major technology companies have launched the Open Secure AI Alliance, a new initiative focused on strengthening cybersecurity through open AI tools. The alliance brings together companies across cloud computing, cybersecurity, enterprise software, open source, and AI research. According to NVIDIA, the group aims to develop and share technologies that help organisations detect vulnerabilities, secure AI agents, and respond to cyber threats. The move comes as businesses and governments face growing security challenges linked to increasingly powerful AI systems.

The alliance includes NVIDIA, Microsoft, IBM, Red Hat, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Cloudflare, Hugging Face, Databricks, Dell Technologies, HPE, Palo Alto Networks, Salesforce, SAP, and Siemens. Together, members will build an open defence stack for AI systems. Their work will cover identity, isolation, secure model formats, and multi-model scanning. It will also support secure coding workflows. NVIDIA also introduced its open-source NVIDIA Labs Object-Oriented Agent, known as NOOA. The research framework aims to help developers test and trace AI agents. It also supports auditing and governing agent behaviour.

AI Takes a Bigger Role in Cybersecurity

The initiative highlights the growing role of AI in cybersecurity. NVIDIA pointed to a recent Hugging Face security incident. During the incident, an open-weight AI model reportedly analysed more than 17,000 actions. NVIDIA argues that defenders need access to advanced AI systems. They should be able to inspect, adapt, and run these systems on their own infrastructure. The alliance also says open models can complement closed systems. They can give organisations greater control over their data and security tools.

However, NVIDIA acknowledges that open AI models can face misuse. The company says strong safeguards remain essential as developers build more powerful AI security systems.
