Uber, Block Global Partnership Set to Reshape Restaurant Tech, Payments Worldwide

Block, Inc. and Uber Technologies have announced a sweeping expansion of their collaboration, and the Uber and Block global partnership is shaping up to be one of the most consequential moves in restaurant technology and digital payments this year.

Announced on April 22, 2026, the deal pushes Square’s native integration with Uber Eats, already live in the United States, into new international territories, with Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, and Spain all in the pipeline. At the same time, Cash App Pay will become a payment option across both Uber and Uber Eats in the U.S., opening the door to Block’s 59 million monthly transacting Cash App users, a base that skews heavily Millennial, Gen Z, and a growing teen demographic.

For restaurant operators, the Square integration means managing Uber Eats orders directly through their Square POS system, no extra tablets, no juggling multiple dashboards. Menus, modifiers, and inventory can all be controlled from one place, and Instant Payouts give businesses a steadier grip on cash flow. Square’s self sign-up capability is also on its way, which could significantly lower the barrier for smaller restaurant owners looking to tap into Uber Eats’ customer base across global markets.

Susan Anderson, Global Head of Delivery at Uber, said the expansion builds on a proven foundation and will help restaurants unlock new growth, while giving a younger, more diverse set of consumers a flexible way to pay, whether they’re ordering food or booking a ride.

The Uber and Block global partnership also ties in Afterpay, Block’s Buy Now, Pay Later product, which already went live with Uber in Australia last year. That layered approach, Square for sellers, Cash App Pay and Afterpay for consumers, reflects Block’s broader strategy of serving both sides of a transaction at once.

Nick Molnar, Global Head of Sales and Marketing at Block, framed it simply: when the products work together, restaurants run more efficiently, customers pay how they want, and local economies benefit.

For anyone tracking the intersection of fintech and food delivery, this one is worth watching closely.
