Siri AI Arrives as Apple’s Most Capable Assistant Yet

Siri AI marks Apple’s boldest push yet into conversational artificial intelligence. Apple unveiled the entirely new assistant on June 8 at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, built on the next generation of Apple Intelligence. According to Apple’s official announcement, The app brings personal context understanding, broad world knowledge, and onscreen awareness together for the first time.
The upgrade is substantial. Previously, Siri handled basic commands. Now, Siri AI actively draws on a user’s messages, emails, and photos to surface relevant information. For instance, users can ask Siri to find a hotel confirmation buried in an old email. They can also pull up photos from a recent trip or locate a restaurant recommendation from a friend’s message.
Furthermore, The AI uses onscreen awareness to respond to whatever a user is currently viewing. If someone receives a text about a potluck dinner, they can brainstorm menu ideas with Siri directly. Siri can then add a recipe to the Notes app, all in one flow. Additionally, Siri AI taps into broad world knowledge to fetch up-to-date information from the web on virtually any topic.
Apple also rebuilt the underlying architecture from scratch. The AI runs on the next generation of Apple Foundation Models, both on device and on servers through Private Cloud Compute. Importantly, Apple says user data is never stored or shared when Private Cloud Compute handles requests. Outside experts can verify this privacy promise at any time.
Beyond conversations, Apple introduced a dedicated Siri app. It syncs conversation history privately across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro via iCloud. Users can therefore start a conversation on Mac and continue it seamlessly on iPhone.
Visual Intelligence also expands significantly. On iPhone, a new Siri mode in the Camera app lets users tap the shutter button and get instant information about what they see. Moreover, for the first time, Visual Intelligence with Siri comes to iPad and Mac, allowing users to search visually and take action from their screens. On Apple Vision Pro, users simply look at an object and speak to get Siri’s help.
Writing also gets a major boost. Siri AI integrates Writing Tools across virtually every app, including most third-party apps. Users can describe what they need and Siri generates a draft. It also automatically proofreads as users type. In Mail and Messages, Siri even mirrors how a user typically communicates with each recipient.
Siri AI is currently available for developer testing across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, and visionOS 27. A public beta in English follows later this year. Notably, the app will not launch initially in the EU on iOS and iPadOS due to regulatory concerns, and it remains unavailable in China pending regulatory review.
