Seedcamp Closes $320M Fund to Build a Transatlantic Startup Bridge

Seedcamp $320M fund

Seedcamp, Europe’s original first-check investor and early backer of Revolut, Wise, UiPath, Synthesia, and Fluidstack, has raised $320 million to invest in the next generation of global companies.

The capital split into two vehicles. A $220 million fund the firm’s seventh is the flagship first-cheque vehicle that backs founders at the very beginning, before the company or even the broad theme is obvious. A separate $100 million Select fund is built to follow the winners as they scale, putting more money into the strongest portfolio companies through Series B and beyond.

Betting on the Transatlantic Bridge

The Seedcamp $320M fund marks a deliberate geographic pivot. Seedcamp is expanding its US presence with the explicit aim of becoming what it calls a “Transatlantic Bridge” connecting European founders with American capital, talent, and customers from the earliest stages of company building. Hilary Howe, who rejoined the firm in 2022 to head up the select fund, is establishing the New York presence. “Now we’re seeing them come right from the get-go,” Howe said of European founders heading to the US market earlier than ever.

The Seedcamp $320M fund’s flagship vehicle, Seedcamp VII, is more than 20% bigger than its predecessor, which closed on $180 million in 2023. The fund aims to invest in about 35 companies a year with ticket sizes up to $1.3 million, primarily leading rounds in European startups with selective investments in Israel and the US.

Seedcamp has the track record to raise on. Founded in 2007 with a first fund of just $2.5 million, it now manages over $1 billion in assets. Fund III has returned more than 13 times its capital to limited partners on a cash basis, and Fund IV sits above five times its value on paper.

Recent investments including space manufacturing company BioOrbit, autonomous robotics developer Sunrise Robotics, and AI agent company Dust signal the direction for Fund VII as it invests in AI and technology with applications across science and the physical world.

Managing Partner Carlos Espinal said: “The last 20 years of European tech created companies that proved Europe could win. The next 20 will create companies that define entire industries globally from day one.”
