Anthropic Launches Claude Tag to Let Teams Get Work Done on Slack

Anthropic has launched Claude Tag, a new way for teams to work with Claude directly inside Slack. Available today in beta for Claude Enterprise and Team customers, Claude Tag lets anyone in a Slack channel tag @Claude and hand off tasks while they focus on other things.

The launch marks what Anthropic describes as an evolution of Claude Code, making the model more proactive and better suited for full teams rather than individual users. Anthropic says 65% of its product team’s code is now created by its internal version of Claude Tag, with adoption spreading into areas like product metrics, support tickets and bug investigations.

Claude Tag works as a shared team member. Within a given Slack channel, one Claude instance interacts with everyone, so any colleague can see what it is working on and pick up where the last person left off. It also builds context over time, learning from the channels and data sources it has access to so that teams do not have to re-explain background every time they tag it. With ambient mode enabled, @Claude can proactively flag relevant updates, follow up on unresolved threads, and surface information without being asked.

The feature also supports asynchronous work, letting users delegate tasks and step away while Claude works through them over hours or even days. Anthropic says its teams now delegate tasks to multiple Claude instances running in parallel.

On the admin side, system administrators control exactly which tools and data Claude can access in each channel, keeping memories and access scoped separately for different teams. For example, a Claude set up for sales operations will not share context or data with one configured for engineering. Admins can also set token spend limits and view a full log of everything @Claude has done and who requested it. More on the access model is available here.

Claude Tag runs on Opus 4.8 and replaces the existing Claude in Slack app. Eligible Enterprise and Team organizations receive an introductory launch credit to try it out. Current administrators have 30 days to opt in to the migration. Anthropic says it plans to expand Claude Tag beyond Slack to other platforms where teams work.

Enterprise and Team customers can get started at claude.ai, with full documentation available at the Claude Tag docs and product page.
