Vercel Sandbox Free Data Download Is Now Live

Quick Reads
- Vercel Sandbox no longer charges for downloaded data from the internet.
- Installing packages, cloning repos, and pulling datasets are now free.
- Outbound traffic and port-received traffic remain billable.
- Other pricing, CPU, memory, storage, creations, stays unchanged.
- Nigerian developers using Vercel for cloud builds benefit directly.
Vercel just made a move that developers will welcome. As of July 17, 2026, Vercel Sandbox no longer bills for data it downloads from the internet. That means installing packages, cloning a Git repository, or pulling artifacts and datasets from external sources no longer counts against your Sandbox Data Transfer usage.
This change directly eases one of the quiet pain points in cloud development workflows. Previously, every download added up. Now, that overhead is gone.
However, not everything is free. Traffic received on a Sandbox’s exposed ports is still billable. Similarly, outbound traffic the Sandbox sends to the internet remains chargeable. Pricing for Active CPU, Provisioned Memory, Snapshot Storage, and Sandbox Creations also stays unchanged.
For developers in Nigeria and across Africa building on Vercel, this update carries real value. Data costs on cloud platforms can accumulate fast. Removing download charges from the equation makes Vercel Sandbox more affordable for teams pulling large libraries, datasets, or repositories as part of their build pipelines.
The Vercel Sandbox free data download policy is now active. Teams should review the Vercel Sandbox pricing documentation to understand exactly what changed and how it applies to their usage.
