According to reports, both clubs are working on an arrangement that would see Camavinga head to Merseyside while Mac Allister makes the move to Madrid. The story is further supported by Marca, which reported that Real Madrid will listen to offers for Camavinga with several Premier League sides tracking his situation.
Camavinga’s position at Real Madrid has become increasingly uncertain over the course of this season. Despite getting considerable minutes under both Xabi Alonso and caretaker coach Ãlvaro Arbeloa, logging 1,217 minutes in LaLiga and 454 in the Champions League, the midfielder has struggled to justify his place in a side that is fighting on multiple fronts. His most damaging moment came during a 2-1 LaLiga defeat to Real Mallorca, when he was singled out for failing to track the run that led to the decisive goal. The loss pushed Madrid perilously close to the edge of the title race. In their subsequent Champions League quarterfinal first leg against Bayern Munich, Camavinga did not come off the bench at all.
The bigger picture is a Madrid side that badly needs a midfield refresh. Their primary target is Rodri, the Manchester City and Spain holding midfielder, but Los Blancos are also looking for a second midfield addition. Mac Allister fits the profile they are seeking, with PSG’s Vitinha and Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández also under consideration.
