BMLL Names Michael Chiappinelli as Chief Revenue Officer

BMLL, the independent provider of harmonised historical market data and analytics for capital markets, has announced that it is appointing Michael Chiappinelli as Chief Revenue Officer, placing a seasoned industry veteran at the helm of its international revenue operations as the firm moves aggressively to scale its global presence.

Chiappinelli, who is based in the United States, will lead BMLL’s commercial strategy and global sales function, with a mandate to deepen institutional client engagement across hedge funds, asset managers, investment banks, and private equity firms. He will report directly to Paul Humphrey, CEO of BMLL, and join the company’s executive management team.

The appointment comes as a direct signal of intent following BMLL’s acquisition by Nordic Capital in October 2025. With that backing now firmly in place, BMLL is making calculated moves to turn its market data capabilities into a global commercial force, and the decision to bring in Chiappinelli reflects just how seriously the firm is taking that ambition.

Chiappinelli arrives with more than 25 years of experience in institutional sales across financial market data, algorithmic trading technology, advanced analytics, and enterprise SaaS. Before joining BMLL, he served as Global Head of Sales and Account Management for the Investors vertical at Similarweb and as Managing Director and Head of Sales at SESAMm. He has also held senior roles at Acuris, Cowen, and Refinitiv, giving him a rare depth of exposure across both private equity-backed growth firms and established global financial information providers.

Paul Humphrey framed BMLL’s decision plainly: as AI continues to fuel institutional demand for the highest-quality data, having a leader who can translate that demand into scalable revenue is not optional, it is essential. Humphrey noted that the demand for actionable intelligence has never been greater, and that Chiappinelli’s track record leading high-performing global organisations makes him exactly the right person to capitalise on that momentum.

For his part, Chiappinelli described the timing as defining. BMLL has built a strong reputation for the quality of its historical data products covering global equities, ETFs, futures and US equity options, and he signalled a clear intent to use advancements in AI as a springboard, helping institutional clients leverage BMLL’s unique data and analytics to sharpen their investment and trading strategies.

BMLL’s appointment of Michael Chiappinelli as Chief Revenue Officer marks a company that is no longer content to let its product reputation speak for itself. With a new CRO, a private equity backer, and rising institutional appetite for sophisticated data, the firm is positioning itself for a significant leap in global scale.
