Video call ring light app RingDisk has launched on Product Hunt with a hardware-free webcam lighting solution. Instead of a physical ring light, the app creates a glowing border around your Mac screen that illuminates your face.
The idea came directly from user frustration. In RingDisk’s Product Hunt launch post, creator Zhanna Jussipova described back-to-back Zoom calls and a bulky ring light. The solution was to use the screen already there.
This video call ring light integrates with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Skype without special configuration. Users activate the glow from the menu bar and adjust settings to their preference. Moreover, the temperature slider runs from warm amber to cool daylight for most lighting environments.
One thoughtful design detail is the dynamic inset padding, ensuring the glowing border clears the MacBook notch and menu bar. Users can also choose which sides of the screen emit light to reduce glare or eye strain. Furthermore, the app runs entirely locally, requiring no internet access and never touching the camera feed.
RingDisk is available on the Mac App Store with free options, making it easy to try before committing.
