Siri AI Lands, AAPL Drops: Apple’s WWDC 2026 Divides Investors

Apple WWDC 2026 Siri AI

Apple opened its 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday at Apple Park in Cupertino with a sweeping bet on artificial intelligence but the market was left wanting more. Apple WWDC 2026 delivered the long-awaited debut of Siri AI alongside iOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, and a deeper rollout of Apple Intelligence across the company’s device ecosystem. Despite the scale of announcements, AAPL shares fell nearly 2% on the day, closing at $301.54 its worst single-session drop in nearly three weeks.

A Rebuilt Siri, But No Delivery Date

The headline reveal a fully rebuilt Siri, rebranded Siri AI, which Apple VP Mike Rockwell described as “a profoundly more capable assistant” capable of understanding personal context, executing cross-app commands, and holding more natural multi-turn conversations.

For investors, however, the session lacked the trigger they were watching for. Apple declined to provide a firm public launch date for Siri AI, committing only to a beta release later in 2026. Analysts at Goldman Sachs, who hold a Buy rating with a $340 price target, had flagged this as a critical credibility moment for Apple, whose AI timeline has slipped repeatedly since 2024. The WWDC event also served as an emotional milestone: CEO Tim Cook delivered a personal farewell address as he prepares to step down in September, adding a layer of transition uncertainty to an already cautious investor mood.

The AI race Apple is now openly competing in, is unforgiving. With OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Anthropic all operating live products at scale, Apple WWDC 2026 signalled clear intent but the venture and investment community will be watching the iPhone upgrade cycle this autumn for the real verdict.
