Bamboo Confirms Nigerians Can Buy SpaceX Stock on June 12

A post by Nigerian investment platform Bamboo on X set timelines ablaze on June 9, 2026. The company announced “Guyssss!!!! Elon Musk is coming to Nigeria,” briefly confusing followers who assumed the billionaire was planning a physical visit. As one user quickly clarified in the replies, the actual news was about the stock. When a commenter asked whether Nigerians would soon be able to buy SpaceX shares on Bamboo, the platform’s verified account replied with one word: “Yes!”.

The timing is significant. SpaceX set to list on Nasdaq on June 12, 2026 under the ticker SPCX, at $135 per share, targeting a $1.77 trillion valuation what would be the largest IPO in market history.

SEC-Approved App Opens Access to History’s Biggest IPO in Naira

Bamboo is an SEC-approved investment platform that lets Nigerians buy US stocks funded in naira, handling the currency conversion automatically. Founded in 2019 and backed by Y Combinator, the platform allows users to get onboarded and begin trading in under five minutes.

Starting June 12, investors will be able to fund their Bamboo accounts in naira, convert to dollars, and purchase fractional shares of SPCX meaning a full $135 share not required to participate. This opens the door to Nigerians who have watched Starlink dishes multiply across their neighbourhoods for years, paying monthly subscriptions to a company they had no mechanism to own a stake in until now.

The connection between SpaceX and Nigeria runs deeper than an investment app announcement. Starlink’s satellite network is already live in Nigeria, serving thousands of homes, hospitals, and schools that have no reliable ground-based internet access.

Still, caution is warranted. Morningstar has valued SpaceX at $780 billion roughly 48 percent below the IPO target and warned that the listing does not offer the best entry point for retail investors. Financial advisers recommend investing only what one can afford to hold for the long term and using limit orders on listing day to avoid buying at a price spike.
