CrowdStrike Names Ex-NVIDIA Expert as Chief AI and Autonomous Systems Officer

CrowdStrike (NASDAQ: CRWD) has named Dr. Bartley Richardson as its new Chief AI and Autonomous Systems Officer. The move marks a defining moment for the company’s AI ambitions.
Richardson joins from NVIDIA, where he led engineering for agentic AI, cybersecurity AI, and large-scale AI infrastructure. Before that, his work centred on solving complex, high-volume data challenges. Notably, he helped develop foundational technologies including NVIDIA’s NeMo Agent Toolkit and AI-Q research assistant, tools designed to help organisations deploy AI at scale.
As CrowdStrike Chief AI and Autonomous Systems Officer, Richardson now owns the company’s entire AI roadmap. Specifically, he will advance autonomous security operations and support the company’s long-term vision for Security Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). In addition, he will lead the development of Charlotte AI, CrowdStrike’s agentic security operations platform, and its AI Detection and Response (AIDR) capabilities.
CrowdStrike is the leading net data creator in cybersecurity. The Falcon® platform generates proprietary, real-time data from customer environments and world-class threat intelligence that no other company has. Consequently, Richardson’s mandate goes far beyond traditional AI leadership. His goal is to drive the Security Operations Centre to level 5 autonomy, fundamentally changing the dynamics of security outcomes and staffing in the AI era.
CEO George Kurtz explained the strategic thinking directly. “CrowdStrike pioneered AI-native cybersecurity. Our data advantage is structural; no one else has the sensors, the telemetry, the expert validation, and the closed-loop system to stop breaches at machine speed. The best AI builders want to solve the hardest problems with the best data. That’s why Bartley joins us,” Kurtz said.
Richardson, for his part, framed the challenge in stark terms. “Cybersecurity is one of the defining challenges of the AI era, encapsulating massive data, constant noise, and the need to make the right decisions in real time,” he said.
Meanwhile, CrowdStrike’s data pipeline sets it apart from rivals. Threat hunters, MDR analysts, and incident responders produce expert-labelled data as a byproduct of daily operations, generating signals no frontier model can replicate. That flywheel of data, models, agents, and human expertise is precisely what Richardson will now harness.
Moreover, the timing reflects a rapidly shifting threat landscape. As AI drives a surge in exploitable vulnerabilities, adversaries are weaponising it to move faster and with greater sophistication. Therefore, the demand for autonomous, machine-speed response has never been greater.
