When an incident strikes at 11 p.m., the last thing an on-call engineer needs is to juggle five open browser tabs. Grafana Labs is solving that problem directly. The company has announced that Grafana Assistant now works across more than 30 data sources, enabling engineers to investigate, correlate, and visualize data in a single conversation.
This is a significant shift in how AI-powered observability works. Most AI tools built into monitoring platforms can only see the data they were originally built on. Grafana’s approach is different. Instead of pulling your data into a new AI silo, Grafana Assistant comes to your data, wherever it already lives.
The expanded support covers several categories of tools. On the observability side, Assistant now queries AppDynamics, Azure Monitor, Dynatrace, Honeycomb, New Relic, Splunk, and Zabbix directly. That means a single question can surface answers from across an organization’s entire monitoring stack, without any manual correlation.
Database coverage has also expanded. Assistant connects to MongoDB, Oracle, and Snowflake, bringing the data layer into the same investigation window as metrics and logs. For example, a spike in API latency can be cross-referenced with MongoDB query performance in the same prompt, a task that previously required jumping between tools.
Additionally, Grafana Assistant now queries Jira without extra MCP configuration. This allows engineers to connect system behavior with team activity, identifying which deployments coincided with an incident, or checking the status of a related ticket, all from one chat window.
To illustrate the practical impact, consider a checkout service throwing errors at 11 a.m. Instead of opening multiple platforms manually, an engineer can ask Grafana Assistant to pull latency data from Dynatrace, check MongoDB query performance, surface relevant Jira tickets, and then visualize everything as a single dashboard, all in one conversation. What would normally take 30 minutes of manual investigation collapses into a few prompts.
This is especially relevant for African tech teams managing multi-vendor stacks. Many startups and enterprises across Nigeria use a combination of monitoring tools, cloud providers, and project management platforms. Grafana Assistant’s multi-source capability means those fragmented environments can finally be investigated as one coherent system.
Grafana says the list of supported sources will keep growing. Every addition means fewer manual handoffs, fewer missed signals, and faster time-to-resolution. The full list of currently supported data sources is available in Grafana’s documentation.
Grafana Assistant is available on Grafana Cloud and Grafana 13. There is a free tier available for teams that want to get started without a commitment.
