Nigerian Fintech Launches Seamless Connectivity Across 150+ Countries

Nigerian fintech company Plug.ng has launched its Plug.ng Global eSIM service, a digital solution built to keep Nigerian travellers connected in more than 150 countries without the stress of swapping SIM cards or paying steep roaming fees.
The company said the new offering directly tackles a common headache for Nigerians travelling abroad: poor connectivity, expensive roaming costs, and the hassle of hunting down a local SIM card upon landing in a foreign country. With the Plug.ng Global eSIM, that entire process is now digital and almost instant.
Speaking on the launch, Plug.ng’s Chief Executive Officer, Sam Aiyesoro, said the company is committed to building solutions that make everyday life easier for Nigerians. He explained that the eSIM was designed to take the stress out of staying connected while travelling, giving users a dependable way to access data wherever they find themselves in the world.
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Olagunju Adetayo, added that the product was built with simplicity in mind. According to him, activation takes less than two minutes from the point of purchase, meaning travellers can get connected almost as soon as they touch down, no queues, no searching for vendors, no paperwork.
One standout feature is that users can pay for and top up their eSIM plans directly in naira through their Plug.ng wallet, removing the need for foreign currency transactions just to stay online abroad.
The service currently covers destinations across Europe, North America, South America, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, including popular travel spots like the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Germany, France, the UAE, China, Singapore, Qatar, South Africa, Kenya, and Ghana. It’s worth noting that the eSIM is data-only and can only be activated once a traveller has physically arrived in their destination country.
Chief Marketing and Communication Officer, Bello Ademola, described the launch as part of Plug.ng’s broader push to combine accessibility, convenience, and reliability in its products, calling the eSIM more than just a connectivity tool, but a step toward easier global mobility for Nigerians.
The Global eSIM joins Plug.ng’s expanding suite of digital services, which already includes data and airtime purchases, airtime gifting, utility bill payments, and virtual dollar cards for international transactions. It is currently available through the Plug.ng app on both Android and iOS.
