Samsung Deploys ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to Thousands of Employees
Samsung Electronics has launched one of the most significant enterprise AI rollouts in OpenAI’s history, deploying ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to its workforce across multiple divisions and regions.
Under the agreement announced June 21, the Samsung ChatGPT Enterprise deployment covers all Samsung Electronics employees in Korea, as well as every employee in its Device eXperience (DX) division globally. The scale places it among OpenAI’s largest enterprise launches to date.
The two tools will be put to work across a broad range of functions including software development, marketing, product development, and manufacturing. ChatGPT helps employees handle knowledge-intensive tasks such as research, document drafting, and data interpretation, while Codex takes on coding workflows and is increasingly being used by non-technical teams to build internal tools, automate workflows, and turn ideas into working software.
ChatGPT Enterprise includes data protection, access management, and security controls, giving Samsung the governance guardrails required to roll out AI at this scale without compromising its internal security policies.
Codex is already gaining serious traction in South Korea. OpenAI reports that Codex weekly active users in the country have grown nearly 800% since February 2026, and more than 5 million people now use the tool every week globally.
Harrison Kim, General Manager of OpenAI Korea, described the deal as historic, noting that Samsung is treating AI “not as a tool limited to certain teams or functions, but as a core platform for improving how employees around the world work and innovate.”
The partnership between OpenAI and Samsung goes beyond software. Samsung has been supplying advanced memory semiconductors for next-generation AI infrastructure, and this new agreement marks an expansion of that relationship into company-wide workforce transformation.
OpenAI’s footprint in Korea is growing on multiple fronts. Seoul National University recently rolled out ChatGPT Edu to all 47,000 members of its community at no cost, and the company has partnered with Kakao to bring ChatGPT responses directly into KakaoTalk group chats. Other major Korean companies using OpenAI tools include LG Electronics, LG Uplus, Samsung SDS, Krafton, and Toss, among others.
