Google Dreambeans Turns Your Personal Data Into AI Illustrated Stories

Google has launched yet another experimental tool from its Labs division, and this one has perhaps the strangest name in its growing AI portfolio. The Google Dreambeans AI app is now live on iOS and Android, and it does something genuinely unlike anything the company has released before, it scoops up data from across your Google accounts and transforms it into a small daily collection of AI illustrated cartoon-style stories.
Gozde Oznur, the product lead on the project, told TechCrunch that the app taps into services like Gmail, Google Calendar, Photos, YouTube and Search History to build what it calls “Personal Intelligence.” From that data, it curates a daily set of roughly 10 to 14 stories tailored specifically to the user. These stories aren’t generic, they range from suggesting a nearby coffee shop you haven’t tried yet, to giving you a heads-up about what life with a new puppy looks like if you’ve got one marked in your calendar. Some stories pull in curated news based on your past browsing interests.
The Google Dreambeans AI app was also built with a specific intent to fight phone addiction. Unlike social media feeds that never end, Dreambeans deliberately limits the number of stories it shows each day. Oznur described it as a tool designed to deliver a burst of inspiration and then encourage users to step away from their screens entirely. It’s a small but notable design choice in a tech landscape where most apps are engineered to keep you glued.
As for privacy, Oznur said only the account holder can see their own stories. Users retain full control over which Google services are connected and can delete their data at any time.
The curious name has a layered explanation. While the user sleeps, the app quietly processes data from all connected Google services in the background that’s the “dream” part. The “beans” is a nod to a morning cup of coffee; by the time you wake up, Dreambeans has brewed everything overnight and hands you a fresh, concentrated drop of ideas to start your day.
The app is currently available exclusively to Google AI Ultra subscribers in the United States. For everyone else, there is a waitlist open to anyone with a personal Google account.
