Fraudio Appoints Payments Veteran Robert Kraal to Its Board of Directors

Fraudio, the AI-driven fraud and transaction risk intelligence platform, has made a power move: the company has announced that Fraudio appoints Robert Kraal to its Board of Directors, bringing aboard one of the payments industry’s most seasoned operators.
Kraal’s résumé reads like a roadmap of modern payments infrastructure. He began his career at Bibit, an early global payment service provider that was later acquired by Worldpay, before going on to hold senior roles at Adyen, where he served as Chief Operating Officer and was instrumental in scaling the company’s global card acquiring operations. He later co-founded Silverflow, a cloud-native card processing company built to modernise acquiring infrastructure from the ground up.
What makes this appointment particularly notable is that it wasn’t simply a talent search, it was validated by live data. Silverflow had already integrated Fraudio as a core fraud and risk management partner, giving Kraal direct, first-hand visibility into how the platform performs under real processing conditions and at scale. His decision to join the board came after watching the technology prove itself in production environments, not just on paper.
João Moura, Founder and CEO of Fraudio, said the appointment is central to the company’s network growth strategy. “Our whole model runs on the network effect, so our commercial growth relies on expanding our data footprint while bringing in the operational weight to scale,” Moura stated, adding that Kraal’s experience running acquiring at Adyen’s level validates their technology and proves it is built by people who understand large-scale payment businesses.
Kraal, for his part, cited the inadequacy of traditional fraud tools as motivation. “Throughout my career scaling global payments infrastructure, I’ve seen how traditional, rigid fraud rules struggle to handle modern distributed networks,” he said, pointing to Fraudio’s ability to turn interconnected data into real-time fraud prevention as the key differentiator that convinced him to step in.
The significance here extends beyond a headline hire. Fraudio’s entire model is built on a network effect, the more acquirers, payment service providers, and processors connect to the platform, the sharper its real-time risk scoring becomes for every participant. Kraal’s relationships and credibility across the global acquiring ecosystem are expected to directly accelerate that flywheel.
With Fraudio appoints Robert Kraal now formalised, the company is positioning itself as the go-to alternative for processing partners that have outgrown legacy fraud infrastructure, as payment rails continue their shift toward cloud-native, real-time, and API-first architectures.
