French Quantum Startup Quobly Raises €115M Series A

French quantum computing startup Quobly has closed a €115 million Series A round, marking one of the most significant Quobly quantum computing funding milestones in European deep tech this year. The round was co-led by French public bank Bpifrance and European semiconductor firms Sealsq and STMicroelectronics, with additional participation from the European Innovation Council, Blast, Innovacom, and Aliad the venture arm of Air Liquide.
The fresh capital will fund Quobly’s push to move its quantum chip production from laboratory settings to full industrial scale. Unlike many quantum computing approaches that rely on exotic materials and custom infrastructure, Quobly builds its quantum processors using silicon the same material at the heart of conventional semiconductors to trap and control qubits, the fundamental units of quantum computation.
From Lab Chips to Cloud Machines
This strategy allows the startup to tap into existing semiconductor manufacturing lines rather than build entirely new fabrication infrastructure from scratch. Quobly has already developed quantum chips on a pilot line in partnership with French research institute CEA-Leti, and will now transfer that process to STMicroelectronics for industrial production.
“For quantum computing to deliver value, we’re going to need millions of qubits,” said Maud Vinet, Quobly’s cofounder and CEO, adding that leveraging semiconductor industry infrastructure will accelerate qubit production while cutting costs.
The company competes in a crowded silicon-qubit space that includes Oxford-based Quantum Motion, which recently raised $160 million using a similar approach in partnership with US chipmaker Global Foundries. Europe’s quantum sector is surging Oxford Quantum Circuits raised a record $350 million Series C this week alone.
Quobly plans to make its first quantum computer available via the cloud before the end of 2026, with on-premises enterprise deployments targeted for 2027. The company reported €10 million in revenues across 2025 and 2026, largely from France’s government-backed Proqcima programme, which aims to deliver a large-scale quantum computer by 2032.
