Aboard electric travel trailer startup has secured $13 million in Pre-Series A funding. This marks a significant step toward reshaping how Americans experience life on the road. The California-based company announced the close of its financing round, with Ondine Capital and Llama Ventures leading the investment.

Aboard is building what it describes as an EREV travel trailer. This a product engineered not like traditional RVs but like a modern vehicle. Specifically, the trailer combines electric power, mobility, and living systems into one integrated platform. That means built-in energy independence, vehicle-level towing control, automated comfort systems, and automotive-grade manufacturing standards including high-precision stamped body and door systems.

The company’s founder and CEO, Jiangtao Lyu, said the core goal is giving travelers the reliability and confidence they expect from a modern car. Lyu stated that Aboard was founded to bring automotive-grade design and engineering to the travel trailer category, so people can travel with reliability and comfort without being limited by hookups or complicated RV systems.

The $13 million will support the next phase of development, particularly completing product validation as the Aboard electric travel trailer moves toward readiness for mass production. Additionally, the funding will help the company deepen its presence in communities where its target customers already travel and gather.

RV Business reported that Aboard will make its formal public debut on May 29 at Outside Days in Denver, Colorado. The two-day outdoor industry conference will serve as the company’s first major public showcase. The attendees will be able to tour the trailer and speak directly with the Aboard team about product options. Price configurations begin at $80,000.

The Aboard electric travel trailer enters a market that has traditionally lagged behind automotive innovation. By applying the design rigor and system integration common in modern vehicles, the company aims to build a product that feels intuitive and dependable rather than maintenance-heavy. The team draws on deep automotive engineering backgrounds, which informs both the product philosophy and the technical execution.

No revenue figures or customer commitments have been disclosed at this stage. Nevertheless, with validation underway and production readiness as the stated next milestone, Aboard is positioning itself as a serious challenger in the next-generation RV space.
