Anthropic Just Launched Claude Design by Anthropic Labs — and It Could Change How Teams Build and Create

Anthropic has officially unveiled Claude Design by Anthropic Labs, a new AI-powered product that lets users collaborate with Claude to produce polished visual output from interactive prototypes and pitch decks to marketing collateral and product wireframes all through conversation.
The tool launched on April 17, 2026, and is currently rolling out in research preview to Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. It is powered by Claude Opus 4.7, Anthropic’s most capable vision model to date.
The pitch behind Claude Design by Anthropic Labs is straightforward: even skilled designers rarely have time to explore multiple creative directions, and non-designers, founders, product managers, marketers often struggle to visualise and communicate their ideas at all. This tool is meant to close that gap. Users describe what they need, Claude builds a first version, and refinement happens through conversation, inline comments, direct text edits, or custom adjustment sliders that Claude itself generates.
One of the more notable features is brand consistency. During onboarding, Claude reads a team’s codebase and design files to build out a custom design system pulling in colors, typography, and components, which it then applies automatically to every project. Teams can maintain more than one design system and refine them over time.
The tool also integrates directly with Canva, allowing designs to be exported into fully editable Canva projects. Canva’s co-founder and CEO Melanie Perkins described the collaboration as an extension of a shared mission to make complex things simple. Beyond Canva, users can export designs as PDF, PPTX, standalone HTML, or pass them directly to Claude Code for implementation via a packaged handoff bundle.
Early adopters have already reported significant time savings. Datadog Product Manager Aneesh Kethini noted that his team can now go from a rough idea to a working prototype before a meeting ends something that previously took a week of back-and-forth. Brilliant’s Senior Product Designer Olivia Xu said that complex interactive pages which used to require over 20 prompts in other tools took just two in Claude Design by Anthropic Labs.
Supported input formats include text prompts, uploaded images and documents (DOCX, PPTX, XLSX), codebases, and a web capture tool that grabs elements directly from live websites. Collaboration is built in designs can be kept private, shared across an organisation via link, or opened for co-editing with full group chat access to Claude.
For Enterprise organisations, the feature is off by default and must be enabled by admins through Organisation Settings. Usage is included within existing subscription limits, with an option to extend via extra usage.
Access is live now at claude.ai/design.
