Coinbax Wins $20,000 PitchFest Prize at Consensus Miami for Stablecoin Compliance

A fintech startup is walking away from Consensus Miami 2026 with $20,000 and a whole lot of attention. Coinbax took the grand prize at the conference’s annual PitchFest competition, impressing judges with a programmable escrow system designed to solve one of the biggest friction points in crypto finance, stablecoin compliance.

The company’s software uses smart contracts to hold funds in escrow while third-party services carry out identity verification, sanctions screening, and transaction-risk checks before releasing payments onchain. The idea is straightforward but addresses a real gap: as stablecoins push further into mainstream banking, financial institutions need reliable rails that can keep up with regulatory demands.

Coinbax was founded in October by Peter Glyman, a former executive at Jack Henry, the financial technology firm. The startup closed a seed round in December, has already gone live on Base mainnet, and is currently running pilot programs with banks, custody firms, and wallet providers.

Glyman summed up the product’s value proposition plainly at the pitch. “We provide a trust layer,” he said. “We provide programmable escrow that adds the control layer to these payments.” That pitch clearly resonated, stablecoin compliance is rapidly becoming a must-have, not a nice-to-have, as regulatory frameworks tighten globally.

Second place at PitchFest went to Tashi, a decentralized infrastructure project focused on coordinating and managing AI systems across distributed networks.

The win comes at a moment when the broader stablecoin industry is gaining serious institutional traction. Large corporations are increasingly exploring stablecoins for treasury and cross-border payments, while AI-powered micropayments are emerging as a major new use case as stablecoin rails reduce transaction costs. Coinbax is positioning itself squarely at the intersection of those trends, offering the compliance infrastructure that banks will need to participate confidently.

For a startup barely seven months old, the Consensus Miami spotlight could mark a turning point. In a space where trust is everything, a platform built entirely around stablecoin compliance controls may be exactly what banks have been waiting for.
