Crypto-Backed Senate Hopeful Barry Moore Wins Alabama GOP Primary After $12M PAC Push

Alabama Congressman Barry Moore has won the Republican primary runoff for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat, marking a significant victory for the cryptocurrency industry’s political machinery ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Moore defeated former Navy SEAL and political newcomer Jared Hudson in Tuesday’s runoff election, positioning himself as the favorite to retain the traditionally Republican seat in the November general election. The seat is being vacated by Senator Tommy Tuberville, who is running for governor.

The result represents one of the most prominent successes yet for Fairshake and its affiliated political action committees, which have emerged as some of the most influential spenders in U.S. politics. CoinDesk reported that crypto-aligned groups spent roughly $12 million backing Moore’s campaign, making him one of the industry’s most heavily supported Senate candidates this election cycle.

Fairshake’s Republican affiliate, Defend American Jobs, first entered the Alabama race in February with a $5 million advertising campaign supporting Moore. The organization argued that Moore would promote innovation and help advance policies favorable to the digital asset sector.

Moore, a three-term member of the U.S. House of Representatives and a member of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, also benefited from an endorsement by President Donald Trump, which proved influential in the deeply Republican state. During the campaign, Moore emphasized his conservative credentials and support for the Trump administration’s policy agenda.

The Alabama contest has been closely watched as a test of crypto industry’s growing political influence. Fairshake and its affiliates have spent tens of millions of dollars across congressional races, targeting candidates viewed as supportive of digital asset innovation and regulatory clarity. Earlier this year, the group claimed a string of victories in Southern primary contests across Alabama, Georgia and Kentucky.

Moore’s victory adds to a growing list of crypto-backed candidates who have advanced through competitive primaries, reinforcing the industry’s strategy of shaping congressional races through substantial campaign spending.

With the Republican nomination secured, Moore now heads toward the general election as the frontrunner in a state where Republicans have dominated statewide federal elections for more than a decade.
