Emirates NBD, one of the leading banking groups in the Middle East, North Africa, and Türkiye region, has partnered with global accelerator Techstars to speed up AI and FinTech innovation in MENAT. Rather than sticking with the usual mentorship-heavy startup model, the two are rolling out something more commercial: an “Acceleration-to-Enterprise” pathway that plugs high-growth AI and FinTech startups directly into Emirates NBD’s banking operations across its markets.

This move to boost AI and FinTech innovation in MENAT comes right after Emirates NBD topped the inaugural Evident AI Index for Banks in the Middle East and Africa, the only bank to land in the top three across Talent, Innovation, and Leadership. That performance backs up the bank’s reputation as one of the region’s most AI-mature financial institutions.

The partnership brings Techstars’ network of more than 11,000 founders together with Emirates NBD’s analytics backbone, which already runs over 50 active AI use cases. The focus areas are sharp: compliance, wealth management, SME banking, and capital markets, with a particular eye on agentic FinTech startups building the next generation of automated financial tools.

Miguel Rio Tinto, Group Chief Digital and Information Officer at Emirates NBD, pointed to Dubai’s growing FinTech weight, noting that the emirate now hosts close to 60% of GCC FinTech companies. He said the partnership gives selected startups a direct route into enterprise banking, with the goal of transforming how the bank serves its nine million active customers.

Neeraj Makin, Group Head of Strategy, Analytics and Venture Capital at Emirates NBD, added that the tie-up strengthens the bank’s innovation ecosystem by widening access to emerging founders, market intelligence, and fresh technology trends.

On the Techstars side, CEO David Cohen said the accelerator is giving its FinTech and AI founders a front-row seat to one of the world’s most active financial markets, calling the UAE a natural launchpad for enterprise-grade solutions.

Startups joining the programme won’t just get advice; they’ll get access to Emirates NBD’s cloud-native infrastructure to pilot real use cases suited to MENAT’s fast-moving market and rising demand for transparent, AI-powered investor tools. The initiative also ties into Emirates NBD’s support for Dubai’s Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to place the city among the world’s top four financial centres by 2033.

It builds on work the bank did through 2025 to strengthen its GenAI capabilities and modernize its tech foundation, and complements existing programmes like the National Digital Talent Incubator, which trains the region’s next wave of FinTech entrepreneurs.
