Reuters reports that the latest round was led by trading firm Jane Street, with participation from major investors including Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia Capital and Andreessen Horowitz.
The new funding comes less than a month after Etched raised $300 million at a $10.3 billion valuation. The company has therefore more than doubled its valuation in a short period.
Etched is building specialized computing systems designed for AI inference. The stage when AI models generate responses after receiving a request. The company believes purpose-built hardware can make AI systems faster and more efficient.
The company has also reached an important commercial milestone. Jane Street has received Etched’s first rack, giving the trading firm access to the company’s AI infrastructure. Reuters reports that Etched has secured more than $1 billion in customer contracts.
