FlexxyDrive’s driver-first model has arrived in Lagos, and it comes with government backing. Specifically, the e-hailing platform has secured official approval from the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation (MOT), clearing the path for full-scale licensed operations in one of Africa’s most congested and competitive urban mobility markets.
Additionally, the platform operates on a zero-commission structure. In practice, this means drivers retain their full earnings from every trip, with no percentage deducted by the platform. As a result, this is a direct challenge to the economics of dominant ride-hailing services, where commission rates routinely eat into driver income. Therefore, the FlexxyDrive driver-first model positions earnings retention as both a competitive advantage and a social commitment.
Meanwhile, Co-Founder Ajimijereomo Paul linked the model’s philosophy directly to the MOT approval in the company’s official statement. According to him, drivers across Lagos lose a significant percentage of their earnings to platform commissions daily, and building a fairer, compliant system at scale is precisely what the approval confirms is possible.
Beyond the zero-commission structure, FlexxyDrive integrates a multi-service digital ecosystem into one application. For instance, riders receive cashback rewards after completing trips. At the same time, both drivers and passengers access an in-app wallet for seamless payments and incentives. Furthermore, Technical Co-Founder Stan Ibor built the platform’s architecture around safety features including real-time trip tracking, passcode-secured pickups, and ride-sharing capabilities. In addition, plans to expand into courier and logistics services are already in development.
Finally, the company’s technological ambitions extend even further. Notably, FlexxyDrive participates in the NVIDIA Inception ecosystem, gaining access to advanced computing resources and cloud infrastructure. Consequently, this participation signals that the platform is positioning itself as more than a local ride app; instead, it aims to become a data-driven, scalable super-app for African urban mobility. With more than 50,000 downloads already recorded and a €1 million pre-seed round in preparation, the rollout across Lagos is clearly gaining real momentum.
