Intel Arc G3 Handheld Gaming PC Chips Launch to Challenge AMD

Intel built a chip specifically for gaming handhelds. That sounds obvious. It has not been true until now. Intel has officially introduced the Intel Arc G-Series processor family, its first lineup of chips designed from the ground up specifically for gaming handheld PCs.
The series launched on May 28 with two SKUs: the Arc G3 and the Arc G3 Extreme, both built on the Panther Lake architecture and manufactured on Intel’s 18A process node. The Intel Arc G3 handheld gaming PC processor marks Intel’s most serious bid yet to challenge AMD’s dominance in the category.
Intel Arc G3 Key Features

Both processors use the same 14-core design. This includes 2 Performance cores, 8 Efficient cores, and 4 Low Power Efficient cores. They also share a 25W base power rating and support up to 80W turbo power.
The main difference is speed and graphics. The Arc G3 Extreme boosts up to 4.7 GHz and uses the Arc B390 iGPU. The Arc G3 reaches 4.6 GHz and uses the slightly less powerful Arc B370 iGPU. Both support modern connectivity like Thunderbolt 4, Wi-Fi 7 R2, and Bluetooth 6.
The graphics setup is a key highlight. Intel says the G3 series uses up to Arc B390 graphics based on Xe3 architecture. This enables real-time ray tracing and XeSS 3 AI upscaling. It also includes XeSS Super Resolution, Multi-Frame Generation, and Xe Low Latency. Other features include Day-0 driver support, Xbox Mode, and Intel Pre-compiled Shaders.
Intel’s partners will launch devices in the coming months. These include Acer’s Predator Atlas 8, MSI Claw 8 EX AI+, and OneXPlayer. Wider availability starts in June 2026 and continues through the year. The Arc G3 Extreme and Arc G3 are already confirmed for Acer’s Predator Atlas 8, launching in October 2026. Intel will share more details at Computex 2026 in early June.
The launch shows Intel is targeting the premium handheld market. AMD has dominated this space for years. Its Ryzen Z-series powers devices like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally X, and Lenovo Legion Go S.
Early benchmarks suggest strong performance. The Arc B390 has outperformed AMD’s Radeon 890M in some tests. This suggests the Arc B370 could match or slightly beat AMD’s handheld graphics. Handheld gaming is growing fast. Intel is now pushing harder to compete in that space.
