Jonathan Majors’ latest project is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The actor, who has been rebuilding his career after a 2023 domestic assault conviction derailed his Hollywood rise, is at the centre of an on-set accident and a crew walkout on the set of an untitled action film backed by Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire and producer Dallas Sonnier’s Bonfire Legend.
Footage obtained by Deadline shows Majors and his co-star JC Kilcoyne stumbling backwards and falling through a glass window during filming. Following the fall, sources told Deadline the drop was roughly six feet, crew members rush into frame to check on both actors. A voice that appears to be Majors can be heard asking whether the cameras were rolling and then saying, “Use it.” Kilcoyne’s representatives told Variety the actor is “doing well and was taken care of immediately by production,” adding that he “did not feel unsafe on set and continued to have a positive experience working on the project.” Representatives for Majors did not respond to requests for comment.
According to sources cited by Deadline, the window had been replaced with an unsecured sheet of tempered glass that was meant to be shattered in a separate stunt at a later point, one that was never supposed to involve any actors on their feet during the take. The accident has amplified scrutiny on a production that was already under strain. IATSE called a formal strike against the film on March 26, after crew members walked off the South Carolina set citing a range of labour concerns. The union subsequently posted a warning on social media that producers were actively seeking replacement crew and advising all IATSE members not to cross the picket line. Despite the walkout, filming is understood to be continuing in some capacity.
Producer Dallas Sonnier’s response to questions about both the accident and the ongoing labour dispute was dismissive. In a statement to Variety, he compared the actors’ fall to what he framed as the failed careers of union representatives, a comment that is unlikely to ease tensions on either front.
The film is written and directed by Kyle Rankin, who previously worked with the Daily Wire and Bonfire Legend on the 2020 action film Run Hide Fight. It shoots under the working title “Knuckle,” and its logline points toward a patriotic action premise. Majors is also an executive producer on the project through his Tall Street Productions banner. His involvement comes as part of a broader professional resurgence: his bodybuilding drama Magazine Dreams, which drew strong reviews at its Sundance debut, recently returned him to cinema screens, and he is also attached to Martin Villeneuve’s thriller Merciless. Before his conviction cost him his Marvel Cinematic Universe role and several other high-profile projects, Majors had built one of the most talked-about careers in Hollywood, with standout work in Creed III, Lovecraft Country, and the Loki series.
