Mastercard, CIB Join Forces to Advance Digital Payment Solutions

Mastercard and CIB, Egypt’s largest private-sector bank, have renewed their partnership to advance digital payments innovation and expand access to financial solutions across the country. The move signals a deepening commitment by both institutions to reshape how consumers and businesses transact in one of Africa’s most dynamic economies.

The renewed deal enables Mastercard to support CIB across core digital payments capabilities and card issuance, allowing the bank to deliver more secure, seamless, and efficient payment experiences for both consumers and businesses. Through this, Mastercard will leverage its advanced technologies, global network, and advisory expertise to strengthen digital payments while enhancing efficiency and access to advanced payment solutions.

Speaking on the collaboration, Islam Zekry, Group Chief Finance and Operations Officer and Executive Board Member at CIB, said the deal reflects a broader mission: “This collaboration underscores our commitment to expanding access to credit, advancing digital innovation, and providing our customers with a superior banking experience. By combining technology with a strong understanding of customer needs, CIB continues to introduce solutions that drive efficiency, strengthen security, and support greater financial inclusion across Egypt.”

Adam Jones, EVP and Division President for West Arabia at Mastercard, also weighed in, pointing to the wider significance of the Mastercard CIB digital payments innovation push: “As digital transformation continues to scale across Egypt, collaboration remains essential to building an inclusive and resilient payment ecosystem. By combining CIB’s deep market expertise with Mastercard’s global network, technology, and insights, we are enabling more seamless and accessible payment experiences that support consumers, businesses, and the broader financial ecosystem.”

The partnership sits within a broader wave of fintech momentum across the Middle East and Africa, where demand for inclusive, tech-driven banking solutions continues to grow. For Egypt, a country with a large unbanked population and a government actively promoting digital financial services, moves like this carry significant weight, not just commercially, but in terms of financial access for millions of people.
