Shoprite’s Sixty60 sales climbed to $1.6 billion in the year ended June 2026. The on-demand digital commerce platform grew 34.5% during the twelve-month period. That pace outstrips Shoprite’s core South African supermarket business, which grew just 7.1%. The results show how the retailer is turning its store network into digital infrastructure.

Sixty60 now delivers from almost 3,000 stores across the Shoprite Group. Shoprite reported the figures in its operational update, released on Wednesday. The group posted R270.8 billion in continuing sales, up from R252.7 billion in 2025. However, the real story lies in the digital channel’s outsized growth.

Sixty60 sales are already counted within the results of Shoprite, Checkers, and Usave. Even so, the platform now equals roughly 9.4% of total group sales. Meanwhile, Shoprite has kept expanding its physical footprint alongside the digital push, according to TechCabal’s coverage of the results. Supermarkets RSA opened 262 net new stores, growing its base to 2,839 outlets.

This expansion gives Sixty60 a wide fulfilment network for faster deliveries. Rather than replacing stores, Shoprite is using them to power online orders. Consequently, the retailer gains an edge in a market where delivery speed matters most.

Shoprite also kept prices in check, with selling price inflation at just 0.8%. That figure sits well below the 3.9% food inflation recorded nationally. As a result, like-for-like sales rose 2.0%, reflecting affordability efforts. Checkers and its related brands grew sales by 10%, outperforming Shoprite and Usave.

Looking ahead, Shoprite expects earnings per share to rise between 9.7% and 14.7%. The company will release full-year results on September 1, 2026.
