SK hynix and NVIDIA Deepen HBM4 Partnership at GTC Taipei 2026
SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won attended the GTC Taipei 2026 keynote just months after joining GTC 2026 in San Jose this past March. His presence sent a clear message: the SK hynix NVIDIA HBM4 partnership is only getting stronger.
Chairman Chey attended the keynote alongside SK hynix President & CEO Kwak Noh-jung. There, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang walked through the evolution of GPU-based accelerated computing and unveiled the mass production roadmap for Vera Rubin, the company’s next-generation AI acceleration platform. Huang also shared progress on partnerships with Asia-Pacific players, global automakers, and industrial robotics companies under NVIDIA’s physical AI push.
The relationship between Chey and Huang has grown notably closer this year. In February, both leaders met in Silicon Valley for what became widely known as the “chimaek summit,” where they discussed HBM4 and broader AI chip collaboration in depth. They met again at GTC San Jose in March to refine their joint technology roadmap. GTC Taipei extended that dialogue further, aligning both sides on a shared AI infrastructure vision.
What began as a supplier-customer relationship has since evolved into a full co-development partnership. SK hynix is now moving well beyond being a conventional HBM supplier. The company is redefining itself as a Full-Stack AI Memory Creator, one that joins customers from the earliest stages of AI system design to build optimized, end-to-end solutions. At the center of this shift is cHBM, or Customized HBM, a strategy that spans both DRAM and NAND to boost AI system performance and efficiency.
Moreover, SK hynix is pushing past the structural limits of conventional memory architecture. By integrating memory and logic technologies, first seen in HBM4, the company is also developing HBF (High Bandwidth Flash) and 3D Stacked DRAM on Logic solutions. These advances position SK hynix to meet the demands of next-generation AI systems head-on.
