How Hydra Host Turned an $800 Million Bet Into the Nvidia Server Marketplace Everyone Wants

Hydra Host, a data centre software startup that began by serving cryptocurrency miners, has raised $100 million at a valuation of close to $800 million and the names backing it tell you everything about how serious the Nvidia server marketplace opportunity has become. The round was led by Kindred Ventures, with participation from Nvidia itself, Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest, Magnetar Capital an early backer of GPU cloud giant CoreWeave and existing investors Founders Fund and Flume Ventures.

Founded in 2021, Hydra Host originally sold automation software to data centre operators running mining rigs. As crypto cooled and AI heated up, the company pivoted to become a broker and marketplace for Nvidia GPU servers connecting businesses that need compute power with data centres that can supply it. That repositioning now looks like a masterclass in timing.

The Hydra Host funding round comes as demand for Nvidia hardware has wildly outpaced supply, leaving many companies scrambling for access to the GPUs that power AI model training and inference. A marketplace that sits between supply and demand in that environment is not just useful it is critical infrastructure. The company currently manages over 15,000 GPUs across its platform and has been expanding its commercial partnerships, including a contract with Duos Edge AI to deploy a high-density Nvidia cluster for a major global tech client.

Nvidia’s own participation in the round is the clearest signal yet that the chip giant sees Hydra Host as part of the broader ecosystem it wants to cultivate not just a customer, but a strategic channel.
