Nvidia has introduced Alpamayo 2 Super, a new open AI model built to help self-driving vehicles handle the messy, unpredictable moments that everyday driving throws at them. Instead of just spotting a pedestrian or a stalled car, the model designed to reason through what’s happening and decide what to do next, more like a human driver thinking on their feet.

Nvidia Alpamayo 2 Super is part of the company’s Alpamayo family of open models, which it describes as the most widely adopted open reasoning tools for autonomous driving on Hugging Face. Built on Nvidia’s Cosmos 3 Super Reasoner and refined with reinforcement learning, the model meant to be a foundation that developers can use across many types of vehicles: robotaxis, delivery vans, trucks, shuttles, and even tractors.

What makes it different from earlier self-driving software is how it deals with rare, tricky situations, the kind that are hard to predict and even harder to train for.
